Gasherbrum II (8,035m) is the 13th highest mountain in the world and the second-highest peak of the Gasherbrum massif in the Karakoram Range of Pakistan. Known as “The Shining Wall,” G2 is widely regarded as one of the most achievable 8,000-meter peaks, making it an ideal step into elite high-altitude mountaineering.
Often compared to Cho Oyu, Gasherbrum II offers a technically straightforward route while preserving the remote and wild character of the Karakoram. The expedition approach follows the Baltoro Glacier, widely considered one of the world’s greatest treks, and reaches Concordia, surrounded by giants such as K2, Broad Peak, and Gasherbrum I.
The standard route via the Southwest Ridge involves glacier travel, crevasse navigation, steep snow slopes, ice sections, and exposed ridgelines. Above the high camps, the summit pyramid demands endurance, discipline, and careful acclimatization. The reward is a panoramic summit view across the world’s greatest concentration of 8,000-meter peaks.
